MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.
EXACTING IXION TRIAL
NEW MILITARY UNIT.
The Jxion trial conducted by the Auckland Motor Cycle Club 011 Sunday proved to be one of the hardest of the season. Although the .total distance covered was only 50 miles it was over extremely difficult country, and the observed sections called for skilful handling. The trial was very interesting, in as much as nearly every rider had the lead at one time or another, and it .was only the doggedness of the two first placed men that earned them their places. The result was: —C. Goldfinch (Levis), lost 51 points, 1; K. Kennerley (Ariel), lost 50 points, 2; J. Chapman (.Douglas), lost 58 points, 3. The A.M.C.C. is working in conjunction with the Defence Department in forming a motor cycle platoon, and considerable interest is being shown by club members. Captain W. Murphy, M.C., N.Z.S.C., will address motor cyclists interested at the elubrooms, October 12, at 8 p.m. Charlie Goldberg, who represented the Dominion in the International Tourist Trophy races, sailed for New Zealand last Friday after a very successful season on the cinders, riding for the New Cross Club. The general opinion is that he should go back to represent New Zealand in the Isle of Man race next year, but lie will have to ride at Waiheke first and prove that he has not lost any of his dash. The , John Bull trial is being well supported. Entries definitely close on October 28. and the trial will take place on November 7 and 8. _ , The A.M.C.C. wrestling team are giving a display in the elubrooms next Thursday evening in aid of the Cards Queen in the Grey Lynn queen carnival.
