RIFLE SHOOTING.
PAEROA CLUB.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. The first round in the championship series was fired by the Auckland City Club at Penrose last week-end at DDI) yards and 600 yards. The wind was blowing steadily from the right and caused no trouble, but dull light made clear definition difficult. Nevertheless, the aggregates returned were of a high order, the outstanding performance being that of F. Bowes, who made 97. With adjusted handicaps A. J. Pieterson and I. G. Campbell won spoons in their respective grades, and trophy points to date arc :—- A Grade.—Clark and Pieterson 3 each, Buchanan and Bowes 2 each, Parkinsou and I. Spry 1 each. B Grade.—Clark 4, Campbell 3, Perrin and Milligan 2 each, Howie 1. J. Spry and Robertson were beaten for points on the count back on Saturday. Scores off ride:— A Grade. —F. Bowes, 49. 48—97 ; T. L.
