LAWN TENNIS.
AVONDALE CLUB. The Avondalc Tenuis Club officially opened its season in the presence of a large attendance of players and spectators. The preshlent, Air. R. T. Meeks, welcomed Mr. H. Clay, president of the Auckland Tennis' Association, also Mrs. 6'lay and Mr. I!. Porter, secretary of the association. Mrs. Gallop, ladies' singles champion of (he club, played off the first ball. A progressive tournament was held, the winners being: Mrs. Gallop and J. Gallop. OTAHUHU RAILWAY CLUB. i The official opening of the Otahuhu Railway Tennis Club took place during the week-end in the presence of about 100 members anil visitors. The president, Mr. J. Sinclair, after "welcoming the guest?, among whom were visitors from the Auckland, Te I'apapa. Papakura Railway and Manjere East clubs, declared the courts open. Mrs. Sinclair drove the first ball. A progressive tournament was held, the winner being I'a nklmr.-t (Otahuhu) and Miss Osborne (Papakura). KOHIMARAMA CLUB. I The official opening of the Koliimarama Tennis Club was held last Saturday. The president, Mr. R. Fawcett, welcomed GO members and their friends, and after calling on Miss Joan White to serve the first ball, he declared the courts open for play. During the afternoon an American tournament was held, the winners being S. Wlialey and Mrs. S. White.
