JAPANESE WORRIED.
Wool Boycott Yields Rise in Prices. GRIEVANCES OF INDUSTRY. TOKYO, October 5. The "Asalii Sliimbun" reports that due to the Japanese boycott of Australian wool, prices have soared elsewhere and so far this season Japan has actually bought only 00,000 bales of South African and South American. Worried industrialists are proposing a drastic blanket reduction of output which, however, was not acceptable to the Government. Consequently it is anticipated that the industrialists will demand that the Government should substantially indemnify them for losses due to the boycott of Australian wool. STILL AT DEADLOCK. AUSTRALIA AND JAPAN. (Received 9.30 a.m.) TOKYO, October 5. "Australia's latest proposals for settlement of the trade deadlock are unsatisfactory," is the tenor of a statement made to-day by the Foreign Office spokesman, Mr. Amau.
