CAULFIELD CUP.
REGULAR BACHELOR SCRATCHED. MELBOURNE, October 5. Regular Bachelor was galloped on at Flemington on Saturday, and was scratched for the Caulfield Cup to-day. Conandale ricked a muscle and is under veterinary care. An effort will be made to start the colt in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. Cuddle, Journal, Panax, Grand Mogul, Gay Lover and Royal Melody arrived in Melbourne to-day. Talking is expected on Wednesday, and he will have his first race here in the Caulfield Cup. Whether Custos and Cerne Abbas come to Melbourne depends oh their form at Randwick on Wednesday. Valartli, with 8.11'; is topweight in tomorrow's Kyneton Spring Handicap. Foreign Star has 8.6 in the Campaspe Plate.
FORM WAS ENCOURAGING. The form shown by Paso Robles in winning Mount Albert Handicap at Avondale was very encouraging. Furthermore, the fact that Mungacre, who ran second to himjP was successful in the open sprint event at Paeroa on Saturday, strengthens that contention. At Ellerslie next Saturday'Paso Robles is down to contest the first division of the Gordon Handicap, in which he will be meeting the strongest field he has yet encountered. However, he is a particularly smart beginner, and, having proved his ability to run out six furlongs in solid fashion, he can be relied upon to put up a bold showing.
