OTAHUHU POLICE COURT.
In the Police Court at Otahuhu yesterday, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., dealt with an unusually lengthy list of traffic offences, the majority of the offences being for speeding. Few of the offenders appeared to defend their cases and the majority of those who did appear pleaded ignorance of their 6peed. The fines ranged from £1, plus costs to £2 10/, plus costs. D. Gulland (Mr. Gold'stine), charged with negligent driving, was alleged to have driven his motor truck along St. George Road, Papatoetoe, in a negligent manner and thereby collided with a motor cvclist. The motor cyclist stated that Gulland had suddenly shot across the road and hit him. He alleged that after the accident the defendant had admitted that he failed to see him. The magistrate dismissed the case, saying that the prosecution had failed to prove negligence on the part of the defendant. C. °W. Hunt (Mr. Mahoney), was charged with operating a vehicle which had defective brakes. He was fined 20/, plus 13/ «oste.
