DANISH PREFERENCE.
HARD TO JUSTIFY. The premium on Danish butter as compared with that sent from Xew Zealand I and Australia, is most marked, and viewed from this end seems difficult to justify (.states the New Zealand Dairv Board iii its annual review). During 'the 1934-35 season the premium for Danish at the highest point was 56/. and the lowest 10/ whereas for the 1935-36 season the highest premium was 46/,. and the lowest 7/. The price of Danish does not appear to be subject to the same fluctuations as the colonial, and the margin between the highest and lowest points was 48/ It is interesting to note that there are now no subsidies or restrictions in connection with the export of dairy produce from Denmark, a recognition that the position ot the dairy farmer in that country lias improved.
