AT FLEMINGTON.
PRINCE QUEX'S STAKES. THREE N.Z. SUCCESSES. SON OF VEILMOND WINS. MELBOURNE, October 4. New Zealand-bred horses ,won three of the seven races at the Victoria Racing Club's October meeting at Flemington yesterday, and Barnum filled second place in the hurdles. Mr. W. R. Kemball had two wins, liis candidate, Prince Quex, winning the Melbourne Stakes in a manner which brought him into prominence as a candidate for the Victoria Derby. Mr. Kemball's Siegfried colt Sunnymorn, after being badly away, won the first division of the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes, for two-year-old colts and geldings. Lochlee, the first of Veilmond's stock to race, attracted attention by the stylish and effortless manner -in which he won the second division of the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes, for two-year-old eolt6 and geldings. Lochlee, stretching out in style reminiscent of his sire, won casing up in the smartest time recorded in the three races for juveniles. Oratory was the early leader in the Melbourne Stakes, but knocked up and beat only two home. The cup fancy Conan- j dale was disappointing. Regular Bachelor tired under his weight. H Results:—
