BILL CONSIDERED.
INDUSTRIAL EFFICIENCY. ' I MANUFACTURERS' VIEW* ( , The Industrial Efficiency Bill was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon. There was an attendance of about 80 members, the president, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, presiding. After a lengthy discussion the following resolution was passed with only one dissentient: — "That the Industrial Efficiency Bill be accepted, provided it is so amended tliat no plan, or amendment to plan, shall be operative unless endorsed by a reasonable majority of the industry affected, such majority to be determined by value of output, and, further, that the Government be urged to provide in the legislation itself for compensating any person displaced as a result of its operation." In view of the numerous inquiries received from members of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, as to the action which the chamber proposes to take respecting the bill, it has been decided to call a general meeting so that members may have the opportunity of considering the proposals contained. The meeting will be held on Monday morning.
