MORE MARRIAGES.
LAST MONTH'S FIGURES. INCREASE IN BIRTHS. The figures of the Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths for the nine n\ontlis ended yesterday show that marriage is becoming more popular, probably through the better times. During last month 221 marriages were regis" tercd, making 1005 for the nine months. Ihe figures for the same periods of 1935 were 173 and IG4G. It is interesting to note that of the 221 marriages last month 33 were performed by the registrar. Births also show an increase, the figures for the month being 231, as compared with 192 in September. 1935. Deaths in September totalled 166, .one more than in the same month of 1935.
