TAUMARUNUI SALE. PRICES IMPROVE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) . TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. The dairy cow and heifer sale held at -Laumaruuui to-day was one of the best conducted in the Central King Country so tar this season. Over 400 cows and heifers of goou quality came forward, and buyers were present from Waikato, Taranaki Wanganui, Ohura and Raetihi. At times the bidding was brisk, and the better class cow* and heifers sold at prices well in advance of previous sales, the best heifers selling up to £7 2/6, while cows, close to profit, made up to £7. cows with calvea at foot, changed hands at from £4 2/b to £4 5/, and second and third calvers made up to £6 5/. Marked heifer s, with good butterfat backing, sold u.p to £6 10/'. Quotations: —Who). 2 herd on account of Mr. W. B. Rout ley: Early calvers, £4 10/, £5 10/, £6 7/6 to £7;-second calvers, £4 10/ to £6 5/; third calvers, £5 10/ to £6 5/; heifers, £5 10/, £6 10/ to £7 2/6. On account of Mr. A. W. King: Marked heifers, £6, £6 5/ to £6 10/; springing heifers, £3 to £5 12/6. On account of Mr. L. Carter: Cows in milk, £4 to £5; early calvers, £4 to £4 5/; heifers, £5; unsound cows, £3 2/6. On account of Mr. J. Pihama: Jersey-cross lieifers, £6 2/6. On account of Mr. C. Halt: Cows, in milk or to calve early, £4, £5,- £5 2/6 to £6. On i account of Mr. C. Salmon: Heifers, £4 5/! to £6 7/6; cows, £4 10/ to £5 15/. A large number of pigs Were submitted at the commencement of the sale, and the following prices were realised:—Weaners, 8/6, 9/, 9/6 to 11/6; small stores, 11/6 to j 12/; large stores, £1 to £1 2/6; porkers, 37/.
