BULLET IN SHOULDER
MAORI LABOURER WOUNDED
RIFLE HELD BY SON.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, this day.
A Maori labourer, Mr. Thomas Wilson, aged 36, an employee on Mr. H. Rhodes' farm at Paterangi, was injured yesterday when a .22 calibre rifle held by his son accidentally discharged, the bullet entering Mr. Wilson's left shoulder.
Mr. Wilson was cleaning a drain at the time, and his son, aged 15, approached with the rifle. When the boy tried to extract the bullet from the breech of the rifle it discharged. The lad assisted his father to the farmhouse, and a doctor was called from Te Awamutu. Mr. Wilson was later taken by ambulance to the Waika-to Hospital. His condition is reported to be satisfactory.
