BUTTERFAT PAYMENTS.
Dairy farmers throughout the country will know just where they stand as a result of the decisions arrived at by the South Auckland Dairy"Association yesterday. In that area, at least, and probably it will become general, they will receive an immediate monthly payment of a shilling a pound for first quality butterfat, and a penny more for the fat content of milk supplied to cheese factoiies. Under the Government's guaranteed price scheme the product is not paid for till it is placed on shipboard, a matter of from two to four months. The dairy farmer cannot wait so long as that for his monthly cheque, and the trading banks have stepped into the breach with an offer of a 95 per cent advance as soon as the butter is in the boxes. This liberal offer will enable the dairy farmer to carry on under the existing conditions of monthly payments, and in the winter time to receive an end of the season bonus.
