! j i I AUCKLAND FIGURES. SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES. TOTALS FOR EIGHT MONTHS. An increase of £040.029, or nearly 25£ per cent, is shown in the return of i revenue collected from all sources by j the Customs Department at Auckland I during the eight months ended yesterj day. The total revenue collected durI ing the eight months was £3,185,484, as compared with £2,539,455 for the same period in 1935. The total for August is £410,2.'),'), an increase of £97.870 over the same period j last year. The Customs duties for the i eight months, £2,038,24(5, is an increase] of £375,820, or just over 22i per cent. The returns for August total £272,000, an increase of £12,218 over that of the! highest previous month. April, and £7079 above December which was the best month last year. Taken together motor spirit and tyre j duties yielded £507,721, or £154,954, for the eight months. However, the receipts for August, £52,133, are much below the exceptional figure of £114,798 last March. These figures are also below those for M;iv, January and December. There is a decrease of £901 in tyro duty over the eight months period. Sales Tax Record. Receipts from sales tax are a •—"ord. The receipts for August are £72,922, the next highest total being £72.445 in June and £70,240 in November. The increase for the eight months is £99,491, or a little over 22J per cent. The excise on beer returned £101,573 for the eight months, an increase of £15,734.
