TAMAKI YACHT CLUB

ANNUAL PRIZE NSGHT

In spite of the boisterous weather on Saturday evening the clubhouse of the Tamaki Yacht Club on the Bastion Point was well filled with members and their lady friends, also representatives from nearly all of the Auckland yachting clubs, 01. the 1 occasion of the tenth annual distribution of prizes. The prizes, totalling 80, were arranged at the head of the hall. The commodore, Mr. \V. A. Wilkinson, In welcoming the. visitors, said the past season had been one of their best, the contests being very keen, and in spite ot one dav when all events had to be postponed, through thn courtesy of the Victoria. Club their events were later combined and the full programme of six days' racing carried out. Palmer, chairman of the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, and concluded by requesting Captain Sergeant to present the prizes in the absence of their patron, Mr. Ernest Davis, who sent a cordial message of good will from Rotorua and best wishes for the coming season. The race at the club's regatta for ladies rowing club fours was won by the Mercer crew after a good finish, '-l'hey were Presented with small , cups, and Mrs. R. Williams won the special prize presented by Mr. Mashall White, for securing the most new members. Thanking Captain Sergeant, Mr. Wilkinson said Captain Sergeant was a good friend to all of the clubs and was welcome wherever he. went. Showing the interest of members in the prize night, he said that Mr. H. Hollida.v had come from Hamilton for the function. Mr. Wilkinson also thanked his flag oflicets and committee for their loyal support during the past year, and especially * thanked th& members of the ladies' committee.

After supper, dancing was continued till midnight to the music of Burnnund's Orchestra, Messrs. S. Greenhough and F. Marshall White being masters of ceremonies.

AKARANA YACHT CLUB.

A race for sailing dinghies of the Akarana Club was held on Saturday afternoon, starting and finishing off the club. The starters were : Wee Pat, scr; Tiny, 3m ; and Kenya Pup, 4m. Tiny was first away followed by Kenya Pup and Wee Pat. Tiny led throughout and the finish was: Tiny (It. Lt. Stowart) 3h .10m, 1 ; Kenya I'up (P. Tattersfield) 4h 7m 455, 2; Wee Pat- retired. Mr. T.
