FINALITY SOUGHT
ORAKEI NATIVE VILLAGE.
DEPUTATION PENDING
"During my recent visit to Wellington, I made inquiry of the Prime Minister as to when finality would be reached on the issues in dispute between the Government and the natives in occupation of the Orakei village settlement," said the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, in a report to the* Auckland City Council last evening.
"I pointed out to the Prime Minister that the present position was most unsatisfactory, both to the natives and to the citizens," he said. "The Prime Minister indicated that at an early date he would be receiving a deputation representing the natives, who wished to put .their viewpoint before him. After those consultations had been completed, he said he would communicate further with me."
