NIAGARA IN PORT.
GALE IN THE ONLY SLIGHT DELAY. Meeting strong westerly winds after leaving Suva, the Canadian-Australasian R.M.s. Niagara, from Vancouver,' via Honolulu and Suva, arrived at Auckland this morning an hour later than ex2>ected. Her normal steaming time from Suva to Auckland being 72 hours, the Niagara, having left the Fijian port at 10.15 a.m. on Friday, was due at Auckland at that hour to-day. Although | the wind yesterday, blowing from dead ahead, reached gale force, the Niagara, which always shows her best qualities in rough weather, maintained practically her normal speed. In continuation of her voyage to Sydney, she is to sail from the Prince's wharf at" 5 p.m. to-morrow. On his way back to his ; headquarters in Melbourne is Mr. T. R. Campbell, a director of John Dewar and Sons, Ltd., a manager for the firm for Australia and New Zealand. He has been on a hurried business trip to the head office. England was booming, he said, but peopla were expecting trouble soon, and some seemed resigned to the prospect.
