'PLANE DAMAGED.
FORCED DOWN ON BEACH. OCCUPANTS NOT HURT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, this day. A Spartan biplane, piloted and owned liy Mr. T. Baikie, of Te Puke, with Mrs. Smith as a passenger, landed at Waikareo Beach by Mr. George Maxwell's farm. When the engine was started again the 'plane rose, but a down current of wind caught it and forced it down again, the wheels striking the water/ The 'plane overturned completely and the front of tlie machine, one wing and the propeller were damaged. The occupants were .not injured. The tide was making rapidly, but many helpers arrived and the 'plane was got ashore and taken to Tauranga on two lorries.
