TROUBADOURS' RECEPTION.
FUNCTION AT Y.W.C.A. Misses Joan and Betty Rayner, the two New Zealand troubadours, were the guests of honour at a reception given by the International Club of the Y.W.C.A. on Saturday evening. Miss Joan Rayner gave a delightful account of their trip to Canada, where they lived for some time on an island in the St. Lawrence River. Xliey had collected many folk songs and ballads for their repertoire in a tiny French village. They spent three months in London, where they bought the brightly painted primrose and green caravan which is always associated with them, and which attracted so much attention both in England and on the Continent. Miss Betty Rayner also gave a brief talk in which she described their visit 'to Sweden and Germany, where the people were delighted to help them in their search for folk songs. The programme also included an address by Mrs. Bradstreet, president of the International Council, 011 the international aspect of the Y.W.C.A., and pianoforte solos by Miss L. Bungay and instrumental trios by Mrs. Lysacht and Misses D. Higham and Fenton were much enjoyed? During supper the Misses Bayner were able to renew many acquaintances made i during their previous visit to Auckland.
