SOAP MANUFACTURE.
CLAIMS FOR AWARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A dispute between a Wellington Soap, Candle and Related Trades Industrial Union and Lever Bros., *Petone, and others is before the Conciliation Council to-day.
The union is seeking a 40-hour week to which the employers agree in the soap, soda, crystal and candle factory, with a provision for Saturday work, but they want a 44-hour week for tallow, manure, casing and by-products. The main wages offered by the employers are 1/10 an hour against the main union demand of £5 10/ a week.
