JOHANNESBURG PREPARES.

TWO MILLION VISITORS? JOHANNESBURG, July 3. Two million people are expected to visit the Empire Exhibition to be held here from September 15 until January 15, 1937.

Coinciding with the enormous expansion on the gold-mining Rand —in this city itself buildings are going up at the rate of nearly £1,000,000 in value a month —the exhibition is the greatest project of its kind ever attempted in Africa. It will not be exceeded in interest by the famous Wembley Exhibitions.

Here are some of the features: There will be a hundred aires of attractions, including buildings representative of Great Britain, South Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, East Africa and Rhodesia. There will be a great model of the Victoria Falls, a gold industry column representing the Rand's output from the time of South Africa's abandonment of the gold standard in 1933, valued at £200,000,000, a mighty openair theatre to seat 10,000 people, and a huge iee-nockey stadium where famous oversea teams will compete.

Historical pageants and other spectacles will contribute towards a hundred days of thrills. The Exhibition is attracting world interest and promises to be a tremendous success.

The Exhibition is being held to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the proclamation of the Rand goldfields—in September 1880.—South African Morning Newspapers.
