RICCARTON TRACK.

JUMPERS SCHOOLED. STORM INTERFERES WITH WORK, (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

There was an unpleasant change in the weather to-day. The morning broke fine, but the sky' clouded over later, and by 9 o'clock a cold southerly wind was blowing, accompanied by driving ram, with flecks of sleet and snow. No. 1 grass track was open, and a few of the early arrivals did useful work on it, while others patronised the 6and. Many of the horses, however, were not stripped, doing no more than walking exercise. It was an unfortunate break, as it brought back the mud, which had been drying off well.

Brevity (R. Beale) was out before the weather became very bad, and he jumped four hurdles in good style.

Cock o' the North, ridden by hie owner, A. N. Grigg, jumped a round of the schooling fences without trouble. He was then taken on the course proper for a turn at the Kennels double, where he refused on the previous day. Nocturnus (C. G. Humphries) accompanied him, giving a lead over the double, which both horses jumped well. It was a satisfactory effort for both, as Nocturnus had lost his rider at the second leg on the previous day. Cock o' the INJorth also jumped the next fence and the 6odwall very well, and was not tried further. Nocturnus missed the sodwalj. and the brush fence at the top of the straight, but jumped the brush at the carriage paddock, finishing in good style over Cutts' fence.

While the storm was at it» worst Polydora (G. Ridgway) was schooled over four hurdles, giving a good display. She slipped slightly on landing over one flight but recovered cleverly and went on without much check.

The storm caused a change of plans for other horses that were to have schooled, besides interfering with the working of many horses on the fiat.
