MUSEUM LECTURE.
GRASS AND MANKIND. The sixth of the series of Sunday afternoon lectures will be given by Mr. G. H. Holford, B.Sc.Agr., in the Museum library .at 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Mr. " Holford has speciallised in- the study of agriculture, and is well known for his activities in advo- 1 eating grasslands research in New Zealand. His" lecture, which is entitled "Grass and Mankind," will have as its chief illustra-, tion a film dealing with the dependence of | a nomadic people in Persia on exhaustible ! pastures. The lecturer will also show pictures of ; New Zealand grasslands under ideal con- I ditions, and others as warnings of the danger of soil erosion due to over-grazing. Throughout, the importance of the whole of the grass family in its relation to man , 1 will be stressed. j i
