NORTH SHORE BODIES.
J The value of a North Shore conference , to be held to discuss local body amalgat mation, unless some definite proposals - were to be advanced, was questioned ' at the Devonport Borough Council oil " Wednesday. Mr. E. Aldridge said to [ many similar conferences had been held on the North Shore in recent years, 1 when only minor matters were discussed. Mere talk would lead to i ' nowhere, and that type oi conference i was a waste of time. He was supported 1 by the Mayor, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, • and Mr. H. J. Hutchings. A motion that ' only the Mayor and Mr. Aldridge should represent the borough at the conference ; was lost, and it was decided that any member wlio desired should attend.
