CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING.
Officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Auckland, Metropolitan Jersey Club as follow: —Patron, Mr. E. D. McLennan; president, Mr. Robert Dawson; ,vice-presidents, Messrs. S. Irwin Crookes, G. R. Hutchinson; secretary, Mr. J. B. Tonar (Northeote); executive,. Messrs. J. E. Broadfoot, W. Hazel wood, A. C. Jones, C. L. Lovegrove, H. Phillips, S. M. Sandford, R. Waterhouse, W. T. S. Wilson; auditor, Mr. Geo. Fleming.
The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of 1 £18 11/4. ; ./• • , Reviewing the work of the year, the chairman, Mr. R. Dawson, stated that successful. - field- days had been held at Birkenhead, Karaka and Otahuliu, but heavy raiii prevented' holding the'fliriction arranged . for Ard'more.:. The club had "donated cups for the best Jersey heifer to the'Clevedon and Kunjeu A'.,iand P. Societies. Mr. W. ' Hazelwood got first lerr in for the former and Mr. R. Waterhouse the latter. - Mr. W. Hazelwdod Won th.e:elub's cup outright at the Albany ;Show. .'The club's challenge shield was competed ' fqrvat Aucklaiidi-. Clevedon- and -Helerisville, J the winners being Messrs. G. R. Hutchinson, R. Waterhouse and J. Rigney!*'•; The seventh Jersey Qaks Stakes was and six. fine heifers faced the . judge at the last Auckland Show, with the following result:— Messrs. Porter and Field 1, Mr. R. Dawson 2, Mr. G. R. Hutchinson 3. Reference was also made by the chairman to the death of Mr. W. M. Tapp, a well-kno.wn- Jersey breeder.;-. 5 ~ . j
