WANGANUI CANDIDATES.
F. DAVIS' TEAM. P. Davie, the Woodville trainer, intends taking a large team to Wanganui for the meeting next month (says our correspondent). He arrived at Wanganui on Wednesday with the object of arranging accommodation, but it is possible he .will, not be able to secure all that he wants,: and consequently may have to curtail his team for the meeting. It is his intention to transfer his horses to Wanganui a couple of weeks before the meeting in order to put the finishing touches on, as the tracks are in such splendid order. Included in Davis' team are five Wanganui Guineas candidates, but it is probable only three of these will start in the classic, and one will most likely be Black Friar, the colt owned by Mrs. M. S. Curie, of Wanganui, and Karl is another that is regarded as a sure runner. The other three are Mr. T. H. Lowry's Birthday Party, Mr. W. H. Gaisford's Mandamus, and the Arausio —Penelope colt owned by Davis himself. The Woodville trainer says his juveniles do not appear to be so forward as other two-year-olds. Two youngsters of distinct promise which he has under his care are Mr. G. M. Currie's Posterity—Eulogy filly, Relative, who was reared on a bottle when her mother died at foaling, and the other is a colt by Chief Ruler —Tame Duck, named Francis Drake. The latter youngster is a very fine stamp of colt of great promise.
