ABELS V. RANGITATA,

AUCKLAND AFFAIRS. MANAGEMENT MEETING. Some objection was raised at the meeting of the Control Board of the A.F.A. last night, Mr." Leo Munro presiding, regarding the decision to abandon the liome-and-away principle of fixtures in the senior first division. Metro-College raised the question on being asked to play Shore at Devonport on Saturday, citing their precarious position on the table as entitling them to the game on their home ground. It was pointed out that Shore had been off their own ground for three successive weeks, and the board decided to adhere to its decision. The junior management committee advised the board that it was commencing its knock-out competitions on Saturday. In this respect it recommended thafc in the case of a draw at the conclusion of GO minutes' play, two extra spells' of 10 minutes should be played. It had decided to advancd the time of starting the junior games b.v half an hour. The report was approved b.v the board. The question of iising three balls during a match, a procedure followed in Australia with a view to saving time when one ball is out of play, was discussed. It was decided to write to the New Zealand Council recommending that, in the interests of Soccer football in New Zealand, the use of three balls should be made compulsory in all senior games throughout the Dominion. The shortage of referees was viewed in a serious light by the board, and }t was decided to advise the clubs that their cooperation in assisting in this direction would be appreciated. The New Zealand Council advised that the appeal by the Thistle Club against the transfer of A. Spong from Maritime to Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys had been dismissed.

The following additional fixture has been arranged for Saturday by the Auckland Football Association : —Abels v. Rangltata, Victoria. Park No. 2, 3 p.m.
