COLOMBO AND CALCUTTA. i At the usual weekly sale of Ceylon tea held at Colombo on the 4th instant the quality under offer amounted to 1,850,0001b. Quality of the grades offered at the auction was generally improved, and there was a good selection. The result of the sale showed that commons and low medium types were strong while others were easier. Actual price alterations were a firm market on commons and price broken Orange Pekoes, a reduction of %d per II) on plain 8.0.P.'s and first classic broken Pekoes, aiul %d per lb on fine broken Orange Pekoes. Next week's sale is expected to total 1,500,0001b. A report on the sale of Indian tea held at Calcutta on the 3rd instant advises that the quantity offered amounted to 1,900,00011). Quality was unchanged and the result of the sale showed that the market was irregular and had an easier tendency.
