" A NEW KIND OF COW."
(By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.)
lIAWERA, this day. Xc\er before had there been greater need for the farmers to become organised than at present, said Mr. S. J. Bennett a_t the annual meeting of tlic Hawera Co-operative Dairy Company yesterday. Ho urged every dairyman to link up with the Farmers' Union and pointed out that in every other industry and organisation , there was unity and strength. The farmers, who already had their own union, should stand shoulder to shoulder, in their own interests. He had heard the Prime Minister talk about increased farm production while the hours of work were being reduced for everyone except, the farmer, he said. They would be only fools if they coiltinned to toil to the end of their days as they had done in the past and they should make things a little more pleasant on t lie farm. Mr. 1). S. Richardson humorously suggested that perhaps Parliament couM enact a provision for cows to ceast lactation at each week-end. _ .. A Voice: Let's breed a ue«' ~K COW.
