BUTTER REDUCED.
PRICES IN AUCKLAND.
DOWN liD PER POUND WHOLESALE The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., announced to-day that it will reduce the wholesale prices for butter by lid per lb from to-morrow morning. The new rates will be: Finest, 1/2J per lb; first grade, 1/2; second grade, 1/1 J. The prices are subject to a cash discount of kl per lb.
Local merchants anticipated that there would be a reduction following the guaranteed price announcement. The wholesale price for butter was reduced last week by id a lb. It was expected, said > one merchant to-day, that an official statement would be issued by the Primary Products Marketing Department in Wellington, but it was not yet decided what the retail price would be.
New Zealand butter on the London market is now selling at 11(1/ per cwt for choicest salted. The equivalent f.o.b. value ill New Zealand is 13.79 d per lb, as compared with the basic guaranteed price of 12.."iGd per lb.
