MAIN HIGHWAY.
POLICY OF GOVERNMENT.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
TUAKAU, Tuesday. I
The policy of the Government with regard to main highways, was outlined in a letter which the Tuakau Town Board received last evening from the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple. following an application to have Harrisville Road declared a highway. "While it is unlikely that additional main highways will be granted in view of the fact that legislation shortly to he introduced will provide for the arterial system being taken over by the State, the matter will not be finally dealt with until later in the year, when the Main Highways Board conducts its annua! review of the general highway system
as a preliminary to submitting its recommendations to mo for consideration," stated the Minister.
