GRAMMAR OLD GIRLS.

ENJOYABLE DANCE HELD.

A cheery informal dance organised by the Auckland Girls' Grammar School Old Girls' Association was held in the German Club rooms last evening. Streamers and balloons in the Grammar colours of blue and gold were suspended in a network from the ceiling, and large bowls of golden acacia and other spring flowers adorned the room. Grammar School pennants placed at strategic points about the room contributed to the atmosphere and spirited music for the dancing was rendered by the orchestra. One end of the room was set apart for cards, and at the end of the evening prizes were presented for the highest score to Miss M. J). Haresnape and Mr. Arthur Nicholson. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Dot Tyler and Mr. Colin Gordon.

The guests were received by the president of the association, Miss Myrtle Burns, who wore a frock of rose and green floral chiffon with a crimson velvet cape. Other members of the committee present were; Miss Daphne Mortensen (honorary secretary), who wore powder blue velvet and silver lame; Miss K. Edgerley, black and rose georgette; Mrs. A. Nicholson, black and white floral chiffon; Mrs. Mervyn Alexander, cherry and blue crepe; Miss E. Messer, black and gold souple satin; Miss S. Lund, midnight blue georgette; Miss Joyce Smith, russet and gold shot taffeta; Miss Arnie Joughin, white georgette; Miss Betty Kerr, cardinal red Chantilly lace.

Among others present were: Mrs. R. 0. Gardner, midnight blue crepe; Miss T. Carte-Lloyd, ivory net; Miss Louise Gardner, lettuce green taffeta; Miss M. Haresnape, pastel tinted floral georgette; Miss R. Todd, Marina blue crepe; Miss O. Brenchley, gold plaid organdie; Miss Helen Lietz, forget-me-not blue georgette; Miss M. Skelton, crimson chiffon velvet; Miss Mavis Turner, primrose lace; Miss Esther Rankin, green and white floral georgette; Miss Joyce Da vies, floral crepe; Miss Dot Tyler, scarlet ring velvet. " .
