SCHOOL OF METHODS.
Mrs. Kasper presided over an encouraging attendance of members at the School of Methods, held this week. Miss Lilian Edger, leader of the peace study circle, spoke interestingly of the various castes of India and stated that between them there was friendship, except in politics. Miss Edger also gave a resume of the present world-wide intercourse of nations and mentioned some of the difficulties of bringing them into closer touch and more sympathy with one another, and said that this could only be done when race prejudice was abolished.
At the meeting of the district executive, ' held later, Miss Read, vicepresident, occupied the chair. There was a splendid attendance of members. The Misses McLay were warmly welcomed. Feeling reference was made to the death of the late Mrs. John Cook, and testimonies were given to her fine Christian character and her Interest in all departments of helpful work, especially the Bible in schools movement.
The report of the W.C.T.U. stall at the Winter Show stated that 1090 temperance pledges had been received from boys'" and girls and many interesting conversations held with older people. The temperance writing competition had also been well patronised and many prizes awarded.
