POLICE PROMOTION.
INSPECTOR J. SWEENEY. Mr. J.. Sweeney, who has been in charge of the Aucland detective office as sub-inspector for the past two years, has been promoted to the rank of inspector. * He will* remain in Auckland for the time being, pending certain transfers afTecting stations in other parts of the. Dominion. Inspector Sweeney was transferred to the police force from the Permanent Artillery in Wellington in 1905 and he has since served in Feilding, Palmerston North, Marton, Mastertou and Hamilton. He was made a senior I sergeant and sent to Hamilton in 1025. J
