FURTHER TROUBLE.
Abyssinian Bands Attack
Addis Ababa.
UNREST AMONG ITALIANS. (Received 11 a.m.) ADDIS ABABA, July 31. An Italian communique announces that Abyssinian bands attacked Addis Ababa on July 29, hoping that the population would rise against Italy. On the contrary, they remained calm and even helped to repulse the attackers, who retired with heavy losses. Aeroplanes assisted in routing them. The Italian losses were negligible.
Local reports state that the attackers were led by Ras Kassa, who, it is
believed, was wounded but another report says the raiders were led by Ras Kassa's son.
A Jibouti report says Abyssinians are reported to have captured Dessye. Unrest is reported among the Italian soldiers and workers in Massawa, who are demanding repatriation to Italy.
