NOBILITY'S QUEST.
FAME IN HOLLYWOOD. As a result of film tests held at Warner Brothers' English studios at Teddington, where Errol Flynn and a number of other Hollywood stars were first "discovered" by the manager, Irving Asher, who is husband to Laura La Plante, the Earl of Warwick has definitely interested the moguls at Holly wood, writes the former Auckland journalist, lan Coster, in tlie Beaverbrook London Prees. The earl says he "is considering" an offer of £1,00 a week for the first 20 weeks, with an option for a further 20 weeks at the same figure, followed by a five-year contract, rising each vear at the rate of £50 a week.
His* countess has already appeared in small roles in a number of Hollywood films.
Another of Britain's peers to seek film glory is Patrick, Earl of Annesley, nominal head of one of Ireland's oldest noble families, who (pride pocketed) portrays a Scottish clansman in Katharine Hepburn's "Mary of Scotland." He is known to all Hollywood as Pat Sands and, like many of his countrymen, is heir to valuable estates which are niggardly in the small matter of actual cash.
