FLAGS AT HALF MAST.
LATE MRS. E. J. PHELAN. The flags at the Town Hall and Public Library were flown at half-mast this morning in connection with the death of Mrs. E. J. Phelan. wire of Mr. E. J. Phelan, Transport Licensing Authority for the Auckland Province and a member of the Auckland City Council.
Mrs. Phelan was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mellroy of Northern Wairoa. Mr. and Mrs. Phelan spent their early married life in fhr. t district, he being secretary of the Timber Workers' Union there. When the industry in the North began to wane about 25 years ago Mr. Phelan removed liis office to Auckland.
Mrs. Phelan had been an invalid for a long time. The family consists of one ; son, Mr. Leslie Phelan, and two daughters, Mrs. A. A. Lucas and Miss Katherine Pliclan.
