OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM WAKEFIELD,
The death has occurred at Mangere of Mr. William Wakefield, who was one of the oldest settlers of the district. Hp was 59 years of age.
Mr. Wakefield was chairman of the Mangere Bridge branch of the Labour party, and had long been associated with education in the district. He was chairman of the Mangere Bridge School committee for many years, and retired from that position at the last annual meeting of householders. He was a candidate for the riding at the last "election of the Manukau County Council, also at a following by-election. Mr. Wakefield was a dairy farmer at Mangere, and all his life had been associated with progressive democratic movements.
