OPIUM-SMOKING.

UNSAVOURY COURT CASE.

WHITE WOMAN DISCOVERED,

DUNEDIN, Friday.

An unsavoury feature of an opiumsmoking case heard in the Police Cou r fc to-day was that a young woman was found in night attire in the back yard of Chinese premises. Chun Yenn, aged 28, was fined £30 for being in possession of opium. The police visited accused's place in South Dunedin at 9.10 p.m. on. July 22 and in an upstairs bedroom they found a woman's clothing. A search revealed opium seconds, a pipe and a slush lamp. After a further search a woman aged 27 was found in the back yard in niglit attire, and she admitted having intended to spend the night at the place. TJ IB woman, who was well known to the police, recently came to Dunedin from Auckland. Originally she belonged to Invercargill.
