WHEEL AND TRACK NOTES
EPSOM TRAINER INDISPOSED
The well-known Epsom trainer, G. Hupps, has been seriously ill in the Auckland Hospital, and all trotting sportsmen will wish tiiis popular mentor a speedy recovery. Phipps will he remembered as having first 'brought that fine sire Blue Mountain King into prominence in the Dominion, while lie also won several races with Black Lila and Dick Dillon. He has not been in the limelight for some tune now, but prior to entering hospital had been working several likely looking sorts all of whom claim Lou Pronto as their dam. TEAM ONLY JOGGING. Owing to the heavy rain recently J. IPaul's track at Mangere has been very cut up, and his horses have been practically confined to jogging work. He does not intend taking a team to the Cambridge fixture, and may have only about one entry at Auckland later in the .month. Ringtrue is being pottered about, and is a picture of health, but as there are no suitable engagements for him near at hand he will r.ot be required to race for some time. Great Jewel is getting through light daily tasks satisfactorily, and will not lack for condition when next produced. This gelding won in very taking style at Epsom in June, and he will' carry plenty of support at his next appearance. Paul is putting through their education several well-bred yearlings and two-year-olds, and there are some likely sorts included in the number.
