BASKETBALL.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.
DECISIONS OF EXECUTIVE.
At the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Basketball Association the Y.W.C.A. Association wrote asking for support in its jubilee pageant, "Girls at Work and Play." The programme is a march past in the Town Hall on September 10, with Lady Galway taking the salute. Representatives of all sports activities, industries, etc., are invited to participate in the event.
Carrying out the decision made earlier in the season, the following representative matches have been arranged:—Second B and intermediate grades will travel to Thames on August 8 to play against the Hauraki Plains representative teams. Senior reserve grade will travel to Wliangarei on August 15. Senior B grade will travel to Otamatea on August 27. The request for a referee for the Otamatea basketball tournament on August 8 is to be referred to the Referees' Association.
Transportation arrangements for all representative matches are in the hands of the secretary.
The secretary was instructed to write to the City Council asking it to reconsider its decision with regard to charging admission to the Windmill Road basketball courts during the" interprovincial tournaments in 1937. Unless permission is granted, the tournament, unfortunately, cannot be held in Auckland, as the admission fee is the only source from which money is raised to- pay expenses. If the council adheres to its decision Auckland players and enthusiasts will miss the opportunity of seeing the foremost New Zealand players demonstrating the game in its highest form. Permission was granted to the Primary Schools' Basketball Association to use the courts on the following dates: The afternoon of Wednesday, August 12, and the morning of Saturday, August 15. The secretary advised that the canteen would be open on the above dates.
