NOTES FROM TE AROHA.

BONNIE SONG'S CONDITION. BLACK MUSK MOVING NICELY. Mr. G. P. Goodfellow, owner of Val Watch, intends being present at the Grand National meeting to see the mare , race at Riccarton". Consequent upon being stopped in her preparation on account of a cold, it is thought the two miles and a half event may be quite far enough tor her, but during the meeting she may show up more prominently in shorter contests. Mr. A." Lennard's pair, Gay Rose and Regal Rose, are working very consistently on the tracks. The latter is an exceptionally easy-going juvenile and gets through her tasks in a very workmanlike style. Consequent upon plenty of paddock work during the winter, Bonnie Song has very little superfluous condition to be taken off, and is therefore likely to be ready to race fairly soon. She may compete at the Taumarunui meeting, to be held at Paeroa early in October. . _ Poy'h Fei-Mah, now a member of A. L. Oojs team, is fining down nicely and quite likely to. make good during the / season. The fact of having had very little work for: some months past enabled him to develop properly, and he should now be all the better for not being overtaxed while in the "process of development. Black Musk, the full-brother to iiing Musk, is now moving along very freely in his work and is commencing to get into racing shape. As a three-year-old he should perform well, as he has not heen liurried in his preparation, although he has exhibited galloping ability on the tracks. .

The Waitoa-owned Queen Lu is going along the right -way and should I>p ready to compete at the Taumarunui and Waikato Hunt meetings in October- Somewhat- hurried in her preparation last summer, she failed to run up to track form with the colours up, but, having been in light work during the winter, her condition is already more solid. Mr. P. A. Swney's trio—Mungatoon, Muneacre and Lagoon—have thickened out considerably during their few weeks' respite and will be recommissioned in due course.
