STREET APPEAL.
HOSPITAL AUXILIARY WORK
TOTAL OF £280 EXPECTED
As a result of the street appeal held yesterday in the city and suburbs by the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary over' £225 was collected in the city. The sum of £21 was collected in Onehunga, and £11 in Newmarket, although this return is not yet complete. Returns have to be received from collectors in Mount Eden and Devonport, and it is estimated that gross receipts will total about £2SO. The collection in the city last year amounted to £188, the success of the appeal being affected by heavy rain.
"This year's gross collection should substantially exceed the amount received last year," said the president, Mrs. A. E. Kidd, last night. "The public has made a good response, in spite of the rccent charity drive, and we are very pleased with the result."
