RETURN £30,000 HIGHER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. An increase of more than £30,000 in the receipts for July this year, compared with July last year, is shown in tls. Customs returns for Cliristchurch. The figures are: —Customs: July, 1936, £95,771; July, 1935, £77,425; beer duty, £7731, £7411; sales tax, £30,767; £27,240; petrol duty, £21,863, £14,368; tyre duty, £1097, £738. For the four months of the current financial year the figures are: —Customs, 1936, £337,517; 1935, £285,720; beer duty, £28,832, £25,558; sales tax, £122,154, £105,497; petrol duty, £79,576, £69,916; tyre duty, £3557, £3891.
