BOOK REVIEW.

Some readers of Dr. Kagawa's religious books have expressed the view that there is too little of the Cross in them. They certainly cannot say that of his latest book —"Meditations 011 the Cross" (Student Christian Movement Press). As the title indicates, it is all about the Cross. Prepared by him in Japanese, its transcription into English is the work of several translators and assistants, and, one may imagine, is as faithful a lepiinduction" of the original as one could wish for. Like all Dr. Kagawa's writings, it is unique in substance as well as in style. There is original thought in it, there is imagination, and there is prac--tical teaching. Aiul it is delignttnlly liomelv, vivid and anecdotal —quite obviously the work of a deeply and practically spiritual and widely read and experienced man of genius. Many who ]icard him when lie was here in Zealand will welcome his new book. They ■will find it pleasant to read, and illuminating as well as stimulating.
