FUNERAL AT WELLINGTON,

WELLINGTON, Friday,

The funeral of thelate Sir Frederick Chapman took place to-day. A scrvice at. St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral was attended by a large crowd, including repf6serit£tives of the Legislature, judiciary, scientific societies, educational institutions and members of families 7of long association with Wellington. . ; The service was concluded by Bishop Sprott and Canon James. The chief mourners were Lady Chapman, Mrs. S. Eichelbaum, Dr. Sylvia Chapman and Mr. Eichelbaum. .The pall-bearers were Mr., Justice Blair and Mr. Justica Smithi Mr.' H. F. O'Leary,' K.C., Mr. Aiistin Cook, Mr. H. Grai'es and Mr. L. O. H. Tripp.

-Among those present were Sir Walter Carncross (Speaker of the Legislative Council). Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., Mr. T. CV A. Hislop (Mayor of Wellington), Sir John Reed, Mr. Justice Ostler, Mr. Justice Johnston, Mr. Justice Fair, Mr. Justice- Northcroft, Sir Harold Beauehamp, Sir Donald McGavin, Sir James Elliott, representatives of the University, law societies in various parts of New - Zealand, the Returned Soldiers' Association, Government .Departments, and many New Zealand and Wellington organisations. Bishop Sprott and Canon James also officiated at the crematorium.
