FOR AUCKLAND'S NEEDY. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' WORK. At an enthusiastic meeting of the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association last night it was decided that the association should undertake a "drive" throughout the' oitv and suburb? on Saturday, July 2.), to collect clothes, hooks and cash 'for various causes. The association ha? a splendid reputation for its past 6er'vices to deserving causcs. At the request of the Mayor, Mr. Enuvt Davis«and the Metropolitan Unemployment Relief Committee, clothes will be collected for the poor and needy, while books will lie handed to the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. Part of the cash collected will augment the funds of the boy scouts, while the remainder will be used for charitable purposes in which the association is especially interested.

The need for clothes and bedding, for many families, in spite of improviirr conditions, was pointed out by social workers at' the last meeting of the relief committee, when representatives of the association attended. At the meeting of the association last nigM preliminary arrangements were made for the drive. It is hoped to call at every house in the metropolitan area on the Saturday morninjr. and some 35 lorries, 400 cars and 700 helpers will be needed. This gives some indication of the huge task faced, but success in previous drives will be behind the work of the association
