Pleading for instant action in the Pacific shipping problem, Viscount Elibank, at a lunch of the Federation of Empire Chambers of Commerce, said it would be a tragedy if the AllRed route were broken. Dr. Earle Page, Australian Minister, and Sir Edward Beatty, chairman of the Canadian Pacific Company, exchanged views on Pacific shipping. Dr. Earle Page told the Australian Associated Press: I will aAvait the arrival of the Canadian Finance Minister, Mr. Dunning, who leaves for London on Friday. It is expected the International Shipping Committee report will be available in July when a conference of interested (Joverninents will be called to consider subsequent action. The Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand passed a resolution viewing with grave concern the possibilities of the near future in regard to shipping, and urged the Government to do all in its power to retain British shipping in the Pacific.
