Young Australian Arrives in New York. JOURNEY FOR OPERATION. (Received 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 24. Kelvin Rogers, for Avhose lung operation money Avas subscribed in Victoria, arrived here to-day in the company of his mother. The lad Avas met by the Y.W.C.A. secretary and Philadelphia representatives of the International Institute. He immediately left for Temple University Hospital, Avhere Mrs. Rogers will have living quarters during the period of observation of the child prior to operation. Then it is hoped to place the mother with a British family in Philadelphia. Mrs. Rogers said her child had enjoyed the voyage, and felt well. He put on Aveight, and had "quite outgrown his clothes during the trip." Young Kelvin Rogers swallowed a nail which became embedded in his lung earlier this year. Money was subscribed from various sources, and a free passage by sea from Sydney to New York for hiin and his mother was offered. He is to be operated on by the world-famous surgeon Chevalier Jackson, acknowledged leader in his particular line of surgery, at the Temple University Bronchoscope Hospital. As described in an article in the 'Auckland Star" recently, operations of a similar nature are frequently carried out at the Public Hospital here, one being removal of an open safety pin from a lung.
