FARMERS' DISPUTE.
JUDGMENT FOR PLAINTIFF. Judgment for plaintiff for £395 with costs was delivered to-day by Mr. Justice Ostler in the case in which Charles Stewart Price, of Henderson, farmer (Messrs. L. P. Leary and H. M. Wlieaton) claimed £728 from William Ptomaine Dowson, of Ivaiwaka, farmer, and Ethel Louie Dowson, his wife (Messrs. H. E. Barraclough and F. R. Foote). The claim was made for reimbursement for the breaking in of 92 acres of land at Sturges Koad, Henderson, from a rough state to grass. Defendant's case was that plaintiff was paid with 10 cows, by advances made under a bill of sale, and by the use of cows loaned by defendant, and the use of the 92 acres for grazing. Plaintiff's case was a general denial that he had accepted the cows in payment, or that the use of the cows and land was adequate payment. Plaintiff's case was accepted by Mr. Justice Ostler, who also ordered that the bill of, sale, held by Mrs. Dowson, should be discharged.
